BRIEF: The workshop provides community service providers who offer help at home for older people in CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) communities with an understanding of the importance of governance, its key components, and how it can be effectively implemented, ultimately leading to better service provision and improved outcomes for older people.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Board Members, Executives and Officers of CHSP organisations

The CHSP sector serves a diverse range of older Australians, many of whom come from different cultural backgrounds. Similarly, an increasing number of the care workforce is people of CALD background. Effective service delivery in this sector requires not only technical knowledge and skills but also cultural intelligence.

Cultural intelligence is an individual's ability to understand their own and other cultures and to interact and work fairly and effectively in all situations characterized by cultural diversity. In this workshop, we will provide individuals working in the CHSP sector with the foundation of what they need to develop their cultural intelligence and work effectively in multicultural environments.

This workshop is designed for professionals at all levels who work in the CHSP sector and interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, whether clients or staff. This includes board members, managers, coordinators, care workers and other staff members.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Volunteers of CHSP and Aged Care organisations

The aged care sector relies on dedicated volunteers who help a diverse range of older Australians, many of whom come from various cultural backgrounds.

As a volunteer in aged care, you need not only technical knowledge and skills but also cultural intelligence to provide effective and compassionate service to your ageing clients. Cultural intelligence refers to your ability to understand and respect different cultures, allowing you to interact and work harmoniously in multicultural environments.

In this workshop, we aim to equip volunteers like you with the essential foundation to develop your cultural intelligence and thrive in your role within the aged care sector. The training is designed for volunteers at all levels, including those who interact with clients or fellow volunteers and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
